Our Vision
Boys & Girls Club of Harney County’s Board of Directors and
Staff are dedicated to building and operating the finest rural
youth development organization within the Boys & Girls Clubs of
America |
|
 |
Our History
Boys & Girls Club of Harney County was organized in 2001 by a
group of local volunteers led by Cinnamon Falley, who believed a
national youth organization could help establish a much needed
program for our youth. To this point, we are the most rural Club
in Oregon, being the only Club east of Bend, and quite possibly
the most rural Club in the United States.
Among the children in greatest need are those living in
America’s rural areas. Over 500 young people are served in our
Club annually. This community is faced with little to do for its
children, especially after school, early evenings, and during
vacation periods. This is where the Boys & Girls Club of Harney
County steps in to fill a void by operating and remaining open
during these critical times. Since the club’s opening in 2001,
there has been a significant drop in youth crimes.
In the 21st century, Boys & Girls Club of Harney County will
continue to maximize its human and financial resources, to reach
more young people in need. Our commitment to growth and quality
is based on concern for disadvantaged youth as well as the local
interest – these boys and girls will soon become the driving
force of Harney County’s economy. By aiding their development,
the entire community will benefit.
While America’s youth face many difficulty challenges, Boys &
Girls Clubs continue their tradition of offering proven
solutions that work. Clubs across our country have provided
millions of girls and boys with daily, guidance-oriented,
character development programs, firmly establishing a nationwide
reputation as “The Positive Place for Kids & Teens.”
Boys & Girls Club of Harney County’s goal is clear - build upon
our success to reach out and serve more youth. |
