Code of Conduct . . .
Lacrosse is still considered
"medicine" to many Native Americans and is a large
part of their heritage and culture. Lacrosse is still referred to as the Creators Game by
the Iroquois. Therefore, all players, coaches and parents
affiliated with Nadzitgsaga Lacrosse Club will show respect by
"Honoring the Game". All players will be
required to sign a Code of Conduct agreement.
All adults associated with this program
will be required to address players, coaches, officials and
spectators following Positive Coaching Alliance guidelines.
We will not follow a "win-at-all-costs"
mentality. Rather we will teach "mastery of the
game" and use practice and game situations to teach
life skills. We will follow a humbleness in winning and
graciousness in losing" attitude. We will
establish a pre-game "Prayer of Thanksgiving"
(following Iroquois tradition) to create a team, family and
respectful atmosphere.
The coach of Nadzitgsaga Lacrosse Club
will instruct players in the fundamentals of lacrosse and
lacrosse tradition. To be viewed as a complete lacrosse
player, players must have mastered their academics, mastered
their game, be actively involved in community/civic
activities/organizations and actively participate in team
fundraising events. The coach will promote only complete
lacrosse players to college coaches and recruiters. A
potential recruit is an ambassador of the team, the county and
game.
All Harney County youth and adults are
eligible to play for Nadzitgsaga regardless of ability, sex,
experience, cultural affiliation, disability, enrollment status
(i.e., public school, charter school, private school, home
school). However, disrespectful behavior, unsportsmanlike
conduct, vulgar language directed at team mates, other players,
coaches, officials or spectators will not be tolerated under
any circumstances and will result in disciplinary actions.
Behavior and conduct on and off field will be monitored.
All players will be held accountable for their actions!
Parents are highly encouraged to come out and support and play
with their children.

Fundamental Values . . .
- Competition means to strive with, not to
seek
domination.
- Our competitor is our
"partner", not "our enemy".
- Opponents are "gifts" who
inspire us to play our best.
- Playing at your highest ability and with
maximum
effort is what your
opponent expects.
- Officials are facilitators, not
obstacles.
- Rules are imperfect guides for fairness,
not to partially
tolerated restraints.
- Our goal is to achieve mastery and
excellence not
win-at-all costs.
